Hi Merlin Team,
I really appreciate the YouTube transcript feature in your Chrome extension. It’s super helpful. I’d like to suggest one improvement: the option to download transcripts as a clean, formatted PDF.
Here’s the idea:
When watching videos like course lectures, it would be helpful to export the transcript as a PDF that includes:
The video title
The URL
Timestamps
The full transcript
This would give users the ability to download transcripts from multiple videos and combine them into one PDF using free tools. That makes it easier to work with AI tools. A single file avoids the upload and input limits found in many apps.
For example, you can upload a 1,000-page textbook without a problem. But if you try to paste all that into a prompt, it usually won’t work.
This format also helps AI understand the content better. It could turn your AI into an expert tutor on any topic. You could go beyond the video material, almost like having a conversation with the person who made it. This is great for niche or technical topics where clarity really matters.
If you get stuck or need a visual aid, it could point back to the video and timestamp. That lets users jump straight to the part they need to see.
TL;DR:
A “Download as PDF” option would make the transcript feature even better. It would help students, researchers, and anyone using AI to study or dig deeper into video content.
Thanks for considering it.
Mike
