Hi Merlin Fam!
I am Vijay from the Merlin Product Team. I needed some inputs on a new Scheduled Tasks feature. You can also respond here for anonymity and convenience: https://forms.gle/pX1Mcx53ES1bnZv1A
I wanted to know how y'all have been using Scheduled Tasks on ChatGPT, if you are using ChatGPT Plus.
My guiding questions are:
- Do you use Scheduled Tasks on ChatGPT? If yes, how frequently?
- If not, do you use any other scheduling agents/CRON jobs for work automation/personal life? This could be anything (like menstruation trackers or just weather automations to business dashboards)
- If you're comfortable sharing, what is your usecase on these CRON jobs/Scheduled Tasks?
- Imagine you're working on Merlin. Do you ever run the same prompt every day or on a recurring basis to get answers/check status of something, etc? If comfortable sharing, what would that be?
- Are there any recurring prompts or Crafts that you run on Projects or in Chat on a daily/frequent basis? If yes, what is their purpose?
If you want to maintain privacy, please respond here: https://forms.gle/pX1Mcx53ES1bnZv1A

I have no experience with that yet, because that domain is completely new to me. But I'm going to delve into it and learn how to use it.

Vijay Bharadwaj Hi, I tested the new Tasks features a bit and have feedback and one bug report:
Feedback: The function is useful and cool, but it's still difficult to understand what capabilities it has and what use cases you intended as a team. It would be great if you could provide several use cases. I've only found a few implementations for myself and I'm certain that's not everything that could be done.
Bug: Currently, notifications in one task are displayed from the oldest to the newest, but it should be the opposite, because this task is related to news research and of course I want to see today's summary, not the very first one. This is a bug because the dates shown are correct - the first thing I see is the oldest task, but its delivery time shown on the frontend is today's date. Please fix this (the display is incorrect specifically on the full task view page, in the Updates tab everything displays correctly, the error appears in task 8b0ceaf0-db61-425a-98e3-aebaebd77fe9)

endu Merlin Vijay Bharadwaj Hello team, warm greetings to you! I'm interested if there are any updates regarding development. I noticed that the feature has a relatively small number of votes, so I would like to know about its current status and whether work on it continues? If you are actively working on this functionality, it would be great if you could share some development details 😋
I am eagerly waiting for the implementation of this feature, as I work with numerous tasks daily, which I currently ask the bot created through your service to plan. It would be extremely convenient if it automatically handled planning every evening and coordinated with me the optimal time for completing tasks. This would allow me to create a more productive schedule for each day, as over time we could develop an almost perfect formula for time organization 🤗
I would also like to make a small request - if technically possible, it would be great if this function integrated with the "Reminders" app on my iPhone. I currently manage all my affairs there, and such integration would significantly increase convenience. It would be especially valuable if the bot could adjust the timing of these tasks after our discussion in the chat. I'm really looking forward to the implementation of "schedule tasks" and hope that this functionality remains in your priorities.
With respect and gratitude for your work!

Fronz: hi! tasks is almost done -- we'll release it hopefully by mid march, most probably by early march.
while apple reminders support is not present, you can get reminders and alerts (with a custom Merlin ringer :D) from your merlin mobile app. we'll consider this integration for v2. delivery of updates also can happen on your email address or as a notification on the Chat website.
v2 will also have other integrations like for slack, mailchimp, n8n workflows etc, if our v1 receives enough traction.
thanks!

Vijay Bharadwaj Wow, thank you for keeping me updated. Sounds cool, really looking forward to it! Even now you greatly boost and save my time, and with this feature it will probably be many times more efficient

Yes, I schedule research topics and then read through them in time blocked manner. This can feed into my work or into personal writing.

If there is a way to do this that isn't tied to a specific time each day, but can be triggered manually when you log in, I'd love that.

Not using but constantly checking the possibilities. It still can not replace my apple automations and scripts, but I am waiting for it. There is a lot of everyday task processed same time of the day. There are also task engaged in specific context. Daily task and calendar summary, mail summary, health prompting, routine breaking...
But as long as Merlin is mobile only app, not desktop - it will be hard to make it more personal on desktop. Some connectors trough zapier or make can work, but as for now (from my experience) i would not rely on it.
A lot of mobile tasks can be usefull tough

I use scheduling features for multiple purposes:
Mental health support: I’d love for the assistant to initiate conversations with me on various topics for emotional relief. It would be helpful if it could check in on how I’m doing or help me recognize and analyze manipulation from others.
Adaptive reminders for sports: I perform stomach vacuum exercises in the morning and evening, but due to my irregular schedule, it would be great if reminders could adjust based on my activity or location. For example, avoiding notifications while I’m driving or busy.
Language learning: I want to improve my English, but I often feel like I don’t have time. It would be great if the assistant could provide interactive, short lessons or exercises on the go, adapt to my schedule, and motivate me through challenges.
Monthly random reminders: I use a Telegram bot to remind me randomly to call family members. Adding this function to the assistant would make maintaining personal connections more seamless.
In addition, I think there are multiple ways to improve scheduling, going beyond ChatGPT’s current options. For example, conditional triggers based on weather, location, or time; smart templates tailored to personal routines; and analytics to help track task completion or productivity. All of these could make the experience more personalized and efficient.
