Dear Merlin AI Support Team,
I am writing to report a significant issue I am experiencing with your Chrome extension, specifically concerning its functionality on LinkedIn. This report details two distinct problems across different versions of the extension on my primary work device, compared to a fully functional setup on a secondary device.
1. Primary Issue: Bug in Version 7.5.24 on LinkedIn
• Extension Version: Merlin AI Chrome Extension v7.5.24 (latest available)
• Platform: LinkedIn website (e.g., post comments section)
• Device: My primary workstation/laptop
• Operating System: [Windows 11 Pro]
• Chrome Browser Version: Version 148.0.7778.97 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Problem Description: When using the Merlin AI extension's commenting feature on LinkedIn posts with version 7.5.24, the prompt incorrectly displays "@someone" instead of the actual LinkedIn post author's name. This prevents the extension from accurately referencing or addressing the author in comments, which severely impacts its utility. Aside from this specific bug, the extension otherwise appears to connect and function on LinkedIn.
Steps to Reproduce:
  1. Ensure Merlin AI Chrome Extension v7.5.24 is active.
  2. Navigate to any LinkedIn post that has a discernible author.
  3. Attempt to use the Merlin AI extension to generate a comment.
  4. Observe that the author's name is replaced by "@someone" in the generated prompt or output.
Expected Behavior: The extension should correctly identify and display the LinkedIn post author's name within its commenting prompt, as it did in previous versions and as other (older) versions do on different devices.
2. Secondary Issue: Connection Failure for Version 7.5.10 on Primary Device
• Extension Version: Merlin AI Chrome Extension v7.5.10
• Platform: LinkedIn website
• Device: My primary workstation/laptop
• Operating System: [Windows 11 Pro]
• Chrome Browser Version: Version 148.0.7778.97 (Official Build) (64-bit)
• Problem Description: To circumvent the bug in v7.5.24, I attempted to downgrade and install version 7.5.10 on my primary device. While the extension installs successfully without any reported errors, it completely fails to connect or function on LinkedIn. Its features do not activate, and it appears as if the extension isn't recognizing the LinkedIn page at all.
Crucially, version 7.5.10 works perfectly without any issues on my secondary device.
• Secondary Device Details (Laptop where 7.5.10 works):
• Operating System: [Windows 11 Pro]
• Chrome Browser Version: Version 148.0.7778.97 (Official Build) (64-bit)
• Steps Taken So Far:
• Reinstalled Merlin AI extension v7.5.24.
• Attempted to install Merlin AI extension v7.5.10 on the primary device.
• Tested both versions in Chrome Incognito mode on the primary device (v7.5.24 still shows the @someone bug; v7.5.10 still fails to connect).
Request for Assistance: I rely heavily on the Merlin AI extension for my LinkedIn activities and would greatly appreciate your urgent attention to these matters.
  1. Can you confirm if the @someone bug in v7.5.24 on LinkedIn is a known issue, and if a fix is in the pipeline for release to the Chrome Web Store?
  2. Could you provide insights or troubleshooting steps regarding why v7.5.10 might be failing to connect on my primary device, especially since it works flawlessly on my secondary device? Are there any specific Chrome browser version dependencies or system-level configurations that could cause this discrepancy?
Please let me know if you require any further information, screenshots, or screen recordings to assist with your investigation.
Thank you for your time and support.
Sincerely,
